1997: The Reform Movement
1997 mein Mohammad Khatami ki landslide victory ne poori duniya ko chauka diya. Unhone "Civil Society" aur "Rule of Law" ke waade par election jeeta tha, jisne Iran mein ek naye political era ki shuruat ki.
Dialogue Among Civilizations
Khatami ne international stage par "Dialogue Among Civilizations" ka nara diya. Wo chahte the ki Iran aur West ke beech nafrat khatam ho aur log ek dusre ki culture aur history ko samjhein. UN ne unki is request par 2001 ko "Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations" declare kiya tha.
Social Openness: Is daur mein newspapers ki azadi badhi, cinema aur art ko nayi uchaaiyan mili, aur youth ne social freedoms ki taraf kadam badhaye. Is waqt ko Iran ka "Spring" bhi kaha jata hai.
The Struggle
Lekin ye raasta asaan nahi tha. Reformists aur Hardliners ke beech power struggle shuru ho gayi. Bohot se reformist newspapers band kar diye gaye aur student protests ko dabaya gaya, lekin is daur ne Iran ki youth ko political awareness di.
